I know 9/27/2011 is a holiday for the hip hop community because when holidays come around you start to prepare in advance. DJ Flash dropped this via his twitter at midnight:
This is straight off the net! It’s right out of the pan, so you might have to let this cool off because it’s hot! Play it again and let it marinate. The second released(or 1st leaked single not sure) is home cooked and is definitely not fast food. “The Good Fight” is everything we love about Phonte(yes rappin’ Tay) and takes us all back to why we fell in love with the music of Little Brother. It is so fitting that this song is catching traction on a Sunday because as Monday morning rolls around and people roll out of bed, what Phonte says is on the minds of the vast majority of people in this world. This is definitely a rip and not an actual single but enjoy, September 27th is less than a week and a half away.
Mr. Phonte Coleman is set to release his first ever solo album Charity Starts At Home on Septemebr 27th. This is hot off the presses so of course updates will come as more information is made available. Although, the Foreign Exchange Music did release the tracklisting, check below and let your mind wander as to how this album will sound but your mind should only be wondering about the level of goodness that this album will bring, Good, great, excellent, amazing(you all get it)

I was going to approach this a little differently but I quickly scrapped the original idea and figured I’d go for a straight from the heart blog. Let me take you all on a quick stroll through time. Let’s start ummmm 2003 at a small Historically black University in Maryland’s Eastern Shore region.
The first time I heard Little Brother’s The Listening I was in love, headphones secured firmly over ears, CD player in hand(An MP3 player was not a part of my life then) and walking to class backpack on and in a complete musical bliss. My friends and I had too many conversations to count about the group from North Carolina that came from an HBCU just like ours and received a significant amount of attention on THE website okayplayer and had captured our complete attention. It felt like the music we grew up on a few years earlier but still new, the subject matter was relevant to us. It was smooth, funny, the beats were on point and the MC’s could flat out rhyme.
Ok now in 2011 looking back it is amazing where the members of Little Brother have been, for an “underground” group their name is known casually on the street and the man behind the beats…well we know that story, 9th Wonder has produced for Erykah Badu, Jay-Z and just recently Lil’ B. Plain and simple he works and makes beats it’s about music, it’s about hip hop forget the rest! The Clothing line and increasing backer of dope musicians and cultural projects, LRG presents a documentary by filmmaker Kenneth Price about producer 9th Wonder. The documentary follows 9th wonder for a year.
