It has been a while but Jazz Sunday is back! It didn’t go anywhere but today here is an OFFICIAL Jazz Sunday post. Jazz Sunday has been very sparse in 2012 but there has been a lot going on behind the scenes here at Creative Beach, oh! It’s all good, it just takes up time but yes this Jazz Sunday is well worth the wait! There is something old but hopefully new to you and there is something brand new, new to us all! Today Creative Beach is going to smooth it out and then get you up and dance. Creative Beach is staying in Europe for this post and first up is CB MC of the moment Gracias. Gracias has definitely moved me and I know his music will make it to a sizable crowd here in the states but music is global and the world is at our fingertips(thank you Youtube). Let’s smooth it out to a live performance Gracias did last summer at the Bassline festival. This vid has been on the CB social network scene but here it is for the masses.
Alright, are you all ready to get your two step on!? Here is a brand new Joy Denalane vid from the English version of her album “Maureen”. If you have been following Creative Beach, Joy Denalane has been a regular feature on Jazz Sunday and this just a continuation. A live band and feel good music, this is the flip side of Jazz Sunday, it’s all about putting a smile on your face.
Creative Beach never let’s you go before giving you more, two videos just won’t do. Here’s another video from Gracias ft. Ekow, boom bap with a smooth feel, you know what Creative Beach is about!
What’s good! Happy Jazz Sunday everyone. DJ Anthony Valadez put together this tribute mix for an event that is happening later this month over on the west side in the L.A. area of Cali-for-Ni-A. Props to Okayplayer for this. Check out the mix and if you’re in L.A. slide on through(take video) and enjoy(I’m hatin’ on the low lol). Oh! Make sure to snag the download so you can press repeat on this mix and here’s some info the event from the folks over at Okayplayer.
If you’re anywhere near SoCal, don’t miss this one. On November 17, Roy Ayers will be performing a special tribute show at Exchange LA. This show is part of the Homage music series, honoring the old school heavyweights who have paved the way. On November 17th, Roy Ayers will be celebrated for his widespread influence with performances by Pete Rock, Thundercat and J. Rocc, as well as the presentation of an official award for his cultural contributions from the City of Los Angeles.
DJ Center put out his “Everything in Time” album in 2010. I must say it was definitely a sleeper album even amongst the internet community. The album was jammed packed with goodness from track one. I think this time around the interweb is taking notice because “Everything in Time” gets the remix treatment from some of your favorite producer’s from J.Rawls to Wajeed. Take a listen to this J.Rawl’s magic of a remix featuring Zaki Ibrahim. Get your Sunday off to a great start, smooth it out, it’s Jazz Sunday.
You all know how Creative Beach does it, here is one final Jazz Sunday for this week to take your Sunday evening in the direction it should go and that is smooth and laid back but with a cool edge. Soweto Kinch is an alto Saxophonist that is a part of the global sound that bridges hip hop with traditional straight ahead jazz. A couple weeks ago Red Bull took over the London Eye and invited 30 of their closest musician friends to entertain a handful(per pod) of fortunate free ticket winners to party and enjoy the music of their favorite selected artist. Creative Beach posted about the takeover and said to stay tuned, well I hope you stayed tuned because here is one of the first recording presented by Red Bull Music Academy Radio featuring Soweto Kinch. Check below for the stream and press play and of course enjoy!
Make sure you continue to check back with Creativebeach.net for more Red Bull London Eye Takeover recordings in the next coming days.
Creative Beach first found out about Soweto Kinch from this video, get hooked too!
Mark de Clive-Lowe brought his ever popular Jazz mash-up show “Church” to NYC this past Saturday during the CMJ Festival week. “Church” is a live jazz show with a combination of straight ahead jazz, singers, rappers and DJ sets, in short it’s a party. Creative Beach was in the place to be and here’s a snippet of how Mark de Clive-Lowe does “Church”.
Make sure you download the Church Anniversary Mixtape, download HERE
Yes, Yes it is Jazz Sunday Otro vez and Creative Beach has some fresh new but classic Jazz for you all! Mark de Clive-Lowe recently released a mixtape of some his favorite Jazz and mash-up songs, this is volume 3(will work on getting the other 2) You can stream and download the mix below, peep the track listing! Happy Jazz Sunday!!
Summer will not return for another 9 months or so but why not keep it going with this Green Street released Free LP. Everything about this album just says sunshine and happiness. Sunshine and happiness can definitely be carried throughout the year but we all long for the days of shorts, t-shirts and rocking shoes with no socks(yeah you put powder in them). I love rocking my northface coat but feeling the warmth of the sun on my face is equally as high on my love for the seasons. Stream the album and download Endless Summer, you’ll thank me in January.
Producer Warren Xclnce sent over this chilled out smoothness of a beat early yesterday and talk about a wake up! This beat was played no less than fives times in a row without realizing because it just flows so well. It’s the type of beat you don’t want to end. Of course Warren is no stranger to Creative Beach, his house music track was featured on the Emerge EP this past summer, yes you will be seeing and hearing more from Warren in the very near future. The track is assisted on production by Reiss Goodridge with the drums. The track is not completely finished and Creative Beach will have the update but the UK continues to turnout hit makers; London stand up on this one, everyone else nod your head and smile…it’s Jazz Sunday y’all!
Welcome to another wonderful Sunday! Redglass pictures put together two short films exploring the magical moment when you come up from a subway stop and enter back into the mix of above ground society. Honestly after taking the subway my entire life I understand these films 100% and especially in the two cities where these films were shot. The films really get to the heart of the wonder and sometimes confusion of exiting the steps, escalator or elevator into the hustle and bustle of the city. I say bravo! Start your day off in Paris and New York. Creative Beach is doing Jazz Sunday all day starting here Enjoy!
Don’t think that hip hop is the only genre all about ‘supergroups’, The James Farm Band can definitely lay claim to that title as well. Comprised of 4 individually talented Jazz musicians that came together in 2009. The James Farm band has been wowing the Jazz world ever since their creation, get a sample of James Farm and definitely keep eye out for them. Jazz continues to innovate and James Farm is proof.
