First off as always good morning everyone! So how was everyone’s weekend? Well let me give a run down of Creative Beach’s weekend, the short version: DOPE!! The long version, “well the Creative Beach crew went to a monthly party called Axel F and it was their one year anniversary and I’m going to give you a quick synopsis”. Alright let’s get into it!!
Axel F is a party that pays homage to the good music that happened in the late 70′s and a good portion of the 1980′s, on the flyer the cut-off is 1987(not sure why not 89′ but don’t know why they started at 77′) but that’s just a formality because good is good and this party is good! I’m not going to call it an 80′s party because it’s not! Honestly it feels like a time warp, like I’m jammin’ at the club circa 87′, granted I was 4 in 87 but I was around absorbing all the goodness(trust this party was heartfelt) Axel F is not a party that is new to me having been before but being as though this was one year anniversary they had to do it up. Of course this being the 80′s goodness the one year anniversary featured the “Sexual Chocolate band” which included producer/keyboardist Zo! and headlined by Mr. Phontigallo, Phonte who came decked out in a very authentic looking “Randy Watson” wig. The Sexual Chocolate band performed some classic, classic 80′s jams and ending paying respect to Teena Marie and Rick James. Then, the party was jump started and everyone started bouncing like they were in the movie house party. DJ’S Stylus and Jahsonic and Adrian Loving literally kept the party moving as they mixed their way into saving lives on a Saturday night. “Oh! Sidenote: They put on a serious, serious slow jam set! I am a 100% believer that any party where “Don’t disturb this groove” is played is an official party!” My crew and I literally had to pull ourselves away from the party as we left just before it ended. Axel F is one of those parties that you’re glad happens every month, for many partying is not a high priority especially for the target age range of this party and to have something so age appropriate is definitely needed, it created an outlet where there aren’t many options.
Yes, I know majority of you all could not make the party or won’t be in DC in the coming months so here is a beginning and highlight continuation.

Famed Producer Nicolay linked up with the Jazz trio The Hot at Nights and re-worked his critically acclaimed and wonderfully crafted “City Lights Vol. 2: Shibuya” into a sleeper jazz project. Well I’m up to speed(again) and if you don’t have the EP you can download it below and you can check them out on tour, oh! D.C. February 2nd! Friday is all about being Free…you look at your watch, it’s time to leave work, school or where ever and take a break. A lot of people go out, some stay home and chill but some of the best parties are house parties! Sooooo we figured we’d combine the best of both worlds. If you are DJ challenged and need to add something extra to your gathering at home, or you’re just like you know what? I want to go out but the economy smacked me in my face, or you just want to party in NYC but live crazy far away and Megabus/Boltbus is just NOT an option. WE GOT YOU! Creative Beach didn’t forget. Each and every Friday at Le Poisson Rouge in Manhattan The Freedom Party gives people their freedom and that’s what Creative Beach is all about. So turn up the speakers and enjoy. The Party goes down at 11pm EST.
