Let’s keep it moving through the DMV and take a ride up 295(which connects the two cities on a straight link north to south) and head to Baltimore. This is the first official posting for Kane Mayfield on Creativebeach.net but if you have seen the Bmore Dilla 2012 tribute video, the gentleman at the end with the words about Dilla, the hilarious jokes and the Creative Beach shout out, yeah that’s Kane Mayfield. It is interesting without even knowing it I think those quick couple of minutes captured the many sides of Kane Mayfield all edited for your viewing pleasure. Although, Kane’s recently released video “Hello” displays what he is better known for and that is his skills as an MC. Kane is originally from Long Island, New York but is now based in Baltimore(so we’re claiming him). The DMV region is now on the hip hop map and it is a region that is growing in the hip hop world…Kane Mayfield is up next to shine. The DMV focuses heavily on the D.C. metro where the name became representative of D.C. and the surrounding suburban area but Maryland is represented and you can’t represent the state without it’s largest and most well known city and that is Baltimore. I’m gonna take it back for a little bit. I was a child in the 80′s, even… shooot the entire decade of the 90′s and the early 2000′s arcades were everywhere. I’ll stay in the 80′s/90′s time frame and arcades were life for so many kids, hang out spots, places to go when you were dragged along on weekend shopping excursions and just places were being a kid was understood. Baltimore native, producer Mo Esq. captured that very essence and turned it into a sonic adventure (no hedgehog). This is what he had to say about the single “Quarters”

This feature is turning into a wonderful digging in the crates so to speak because Reesa Renee is a true artist from the DMV! Reesa Renee launched her career this year back in January literally(check below for the info) and has been catapulting herself forward ever since performing in the DMV as well as in New York City (with a win at the famed Apollo). Here is her latest video “Wonderful Cool”. I could not think of a better title for this song because image is what you want it to be and Reesa addresses that in her song. Maryland is home and the region has been highlighted and put on the map more and more in the last few years but there is so much more talent that is bubbling just below the surface and deserve to have the spotlight shown on them. You’ll see features periodically on the new talent coming from this region now and into the near future. First up is an MC that goes by the name of Chosen the Kid, hailing from Maryland’s Eastern Shore and now calling the D.C. metro home Chosen the Kid is starting to put out more content and make himself known to the public.
