The Bullitts are back with a very cinematic short film for their single “Run and Hide” ft. Jay Electronica. The Bullitts have succeeded in two things…one, marketing and the other artistry. I know you all are with me when you say you are still looking for what The Bullitts are trying to achieve. Although, you must admit you don’t care because it is so engaging and done so well. I know one thing…I am definitely looking forward to the album. To me when it comes to pushing the boundaries but still providing quality music The Bullitts are the definition. Enjoy the film.
Fresh off of the 2011 Women’s World Cup and a year after the historic World Cup held in South Africa, it’s time to focus on more soccer. FiFA announced earlier today(EST) the dates for the 2014 world cup.
“ FIFA World Cup will be held from 12 June to 13 July 2014.”
I don’t know about you all but Creative Beach plans to be in Brazil!! It is a definite focus, The sand, the sun, the soccer…yes! Obrigado Brasil.
Good Morning and yep! It’s another Jazz Sunday. This song will definitely have your day off to a good start. The Parisian band The Hop released a video for their single Rien Ne M’Arrêtera(Nothing will stop me). If you don’t have this EP, first you definitely need to get it and second it is the last track on the EP which is very fitting because it is a triumpant song that actually signals more of a beginning than an end. So click on play, enjoy! Oh! The Hop have a new EP on the way.
This is definitely a welcome surprise! Kardinal Offishall just released his latest single. Although, Kardinal borrowed from himself to spring forward this summer banger entitled ‘Ol Time Killin’ Part 2(Anywhere) The first ‘Ol’ Time Killin’ was a hit song in the very early 2000′s and really put Kardinal’s name on the map in the states. I advise you all to click on play and even download this song ASAP. Summer runs until September 21st so you still have time to enjoy this with the windows downs and speakers turned up.
The Fillmore Concert Venue is the DMV’s newest indoor concert space and is set to open in September. The venue is definitely opening to huge fan fair with it’s first act being Mary J. Blige. The venue continues with shows from BlackStar(Yes Mos Def and Talib Kweli!), Cheaptrick and Blondie(yep THAT Blondie) You can get all of the info on the new venue at fillmoresilverspring.com
I finally saw the much anticipated, much hyped and much talked about documentary Beats, Rhymes and Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest. Yeah, yeah before I get stuff thrown at me or in internet terms a bunch of “you just saw that” posts. Ummmm I did have something to take of, namely the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival which Q-tip headlined(hmmmm interesting) and it just opened in D.C. last week. So! Let’s get into the review, ok wait! A quick back story, like many I literally grew up with A Tribe Called Quest and the whole Native Tongues movement. De La Soul was my introduction to hip hop and of course Tribe was in the mix and the rest is history and voila! Here I am.
This documentary brought along an immense amount of Joy as I slid into my seat and watched all of the ‘other’ previews, took mental note of future movies with ‘oooooo I wanna see that’ and eagerly anticipated the opening scene to the Beats, Rhymes and Life documentary. Being as though it is a documentary, the audience wasn’t in the realm of blockbuster numbers but we were ALL fans and watching a film that tells the story of a group that has changed lives, it felt like an intimate screening as we all looked around and smiled like “yeah I know you’re just as happy as I am to be at this screening” There aren’t any spoilers just an opinionated review of a documentary.
Honestly I thought the documentary was great! Michael Rapaport did a wonderful job and crafted a story that felt complete. I walked out of the movie theater thinking, ‘ok the story has been told’ There were many wow moments as stories were told of the beginning of the group, from their initial meetings, to the group name, to the behind the scenes of some truly legendary albums. The documentary was funny, insightful and even sad at times as it delved into the very personal relationship between the group members who have become more family than friends. I know I would definitely ‘see it again for the first time’ and I will definitely be purchasing the documentary on DVD(hopefully bluray hehe) I know you maybe thinking…that’s it!? That’s the review? Well like I said there aren’t any spoilers. I suggest you go out and see it for yourself. If you want to discuss it, feel free to post a comment or we can discuss on twitter @creativebeach
Well Swedish MC Eboi is continuing to make his web presence known. Creative Beach featured Eboi earlier this month with his seriously hard hitting and insightful song Immigrants. Here is a new video of Eboi as he spits his single As I’m falling on Swedish radio. One thing…this guy is going to be hit.
